Moulay Amar the Dangerous

Moulay Amar Dangerous (also known as El Khattir) stands as a unique figure among the individuals who left a significant mark on the history of this town.

Indeed, no one disputes that the memory of this man echoes strongly within the collective consciousness, both inside Ahfir and throughout its surroundings.

In truth, Moulay Amar enjoyed a reputation that far exceeded the narrow local boundaries, to the point where he became, in many ways, closely associated with the identity of the town and the mindset of its people.

However, it must be acknowledged that imagination and legend have deeply overshadowed the real story of this man.

Certainly, everyone agrees that he had a personality dominated by violence, harshness, and roughness. Yet, within the social environment of Ahfir at that time, many individuals were known for their crude and aggressive behavior. One could even say that every neighborhood had its own characters of this kind, similar to the fettawa of Egyptian cities — especially Cairo — whose stories we have read in the novels of Naguib Mahfouz.

Thus, despite the mental disorder he suffered from, Moulay Amar was ultimately a natural part of the social reality that prevailed in the town during that era.

Finally, it is worth noting that he had a respectable level of education, as he had previously worked as a schoolteacher.
