Extracurricular Activities in the Past

The years I spent at Ahfir Middle School (1963-1967) were not devoted entirely to study and academic work. Time was wisely divided between classes, sports activities, and recreation. Various sports competitions were organized, both within the school and with other middle schools, especially in Oujda. These events provided us with opportunities to relax, have fun, and enjoy ourselves. They also offered a valuable chance to get to know students from different backgrounds.

In another aspect of school life, the administration regularly treated us to film screenings from time to time. Most of these films were silent movies, yet they were among the finest productions of that era.

It is worth noting that, at that time, going to the cinema was considered a luxury, accessible only to a privileged few. Therefore, the film screenings organized within the school were a genuine source of enjoyment for us. We took advantage of these occasions to spend hours filled with laughter and happiness in an atmosphere of freedom and relaxation, free from significant restrictions or administrative pressure. We eagerly looked forward to those moments.

As for the films shown, most of them were famous classics of comedy cinema, particularly silent films. Among them were the works of Charlie Chaplin, the renowned comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, Fernandel, and others.

During that period, we had the opportunity to watch a number of the finest films known at the time. It was truly an excellent initiative, both educational and entertaining, and one that deserves recognition for those who were responsible for managing the school during those years.
