A Look at Our Team: Ahfir Sports Union

Speaking about Ahfir’s football club (USA) requires an understanding of its history and development through the many stages it has gone through since its distant beginnings.

Today, there are certainly people from Ahfir who possess the knowledge and ability to document and preserve the history of this club. It is my hope that they will do so before time erases the remaining information, documents, and memories.

Among the most important aspects that deserve to be recorded are the club’s origins, the different phases of its development, its most outstanding players, and the presidents and coaches who have led it throughout the years.

In this brief article, I would like to highlight two individuals who played a significant role in the progress and success of the team during part of its history, whether in coaching, management, administration, or organization. I am referring to Mohamed Hammami and Miloud Khazani, to whom I wish good health and a long life.

Without a doubt, the 1970s and 1980s were among the club’s most successful and prosperous periods, especially when it finally achieved promotion to the National Second Division after many years of waiting.

Under the leadership of capable administrators and talented players, the club made tremendous progress during that era. The Hammami and Khazani brothers played an active and influential role in this achievement. Their efforts helped improve the club’s performance, strengthen its unity, and foster a spirit of friendship, cooperation, and mutual support within the team.

This was largely due to their credibility, strong character, admirable ethics, sporting competence, dedication to hard work, sincerity, commitment, and willingness to give without expecting anything in return.

As a result, the team succeeded for the first time in breaking beyond the narrow regional boundaries that had long confined it to Eastern Morocco. By God’s grace, it began traveling to more distant cities such as Taza, Fez, Khénifra, Sidi Slimane, and others.

During that period, the club truly excelled and played an important role in promoting our city, enhancing its reputation, and spreading its name across distant regions of the country.

I will never forget the day the team was my guest at my home while I was working in Azrou in the early 1980s. It was a wonderful and joyful occasion that will remain forever in my memory. Happiness could be seen on the faces of the players, those who helped build the club’s glory and left an enduring mark on its rich history, one that the passage of time will never erase.
